Style
Unlike most underwater photographers, my specialty is not wildlife.
I love capturing freedivers & recreational line diving.
My soul is drawn to artistic, creative projects with models underwater, especially with rippling fabric & dresses, and movement expression.
I tend to shoot and edit on the darker side.
Outside of the aquarium, almost all of my shots are done on one breath.
Experience
I was trained to shoot at the Georgia Aquarium by the more senior videographers there.
I honed my photography skills in Tulum, where I took workshops with Tom St. George and Alvaro Herrero, both award winning photographers.
I do freelance work now, often with Swim with Sharks, the only woman-owned shark charter in South Florida.
Editing is more than half the battle with underwater photography. My shots are taken with a Panasonic GH5 in an Ikelite housing and are are professional quality, polished afterwards in Light Room
I'm also proficient in using photoshop to creatively enhance the images like I've shown here. I do not use AI for any of my edits or images.
For this photo, I kept dreaming of the cenotes in the Yucatan as outer space, so I decided to finally create the image that had been floating in my head for some time.
